PetPetAssured.ca ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights under Canadian privacy law — including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial legislation.
This Site is provided for entertainment and informational purposes only. It is not a brokerage, advisory, or transactional platform. We do not collect insurance quote information, process applications, or transmit personal information to insurers on your behalf.
1. Information we collect
Automatically collected via standard server and analytics processes:
- IP address (truncated where supported)
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Referring page / search query
- Pages visited and timestamps
- Cookies set by analytics and advertising partners (see Section 4)
Information you provide voluntarily:
- Name, email, and message content if you use our contact form
- Email address if you sign up for our email updates through one of the signup forms on the Site, together with a record of which form you used and which free guide prompted the signup
We do not collect:
- Pet insurance quote details (breed, age, postal code) for the purpose of obtaining a quote
- Payment information (we do not process payments)
- Health information about your pet
- Personal information for the purpose of transmission to any insurance provider
2. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to inquiries you send us
- Analyze site traffic and improve content
- Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud or security incidents
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Affiliate click tracking
When you click an affiliate link, you leave our Site. The affiliate merchant (or its affiliate network) may set cookies or use other tracking to attribute the referral. That tracking is performed by the third party, not by us, and is subject to that third party's privacy policy. We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices.
4. Cookies and third-party services
We use:
- Cloudflare Web Analytics — privacy-respecting traffic analytics, no third-party cookies set
- Google Analytics 4 — measures how pages are found and used. It sets first-party cookies and processes a truncated version of your IP address. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on.
- Ahrefs Analytics — cookieless traffic measurement used alongside the above; it sets no cookies and does not fingerprint visitors.
- Google AdSense — we have applied to Google AdSense, and Google's advertising script currently loads on nearly every page so that Google can review the Site. No advertisements are displayed on the Site at this time. The script may set cookies for measurement and ad personalization. You can opt out of personalized advertising via Google's advertising policy or your browser's privacy controls. If we are approved and begin displaying advertisements, we will update this Policy before doing so.
- Affiliate networks — when you click an affiliate link, the affiliate merchant's tracking systems may apply.
You can disable cookies in your browser. Disabling cookies does not affect the core functionality of the Site.
Local browser storage. The Site uses your browser's local storage to remember whether you have already signed up for our email updates or dismissed the signup prompts, so that you are not shown them repeatedly. That record is kept on your own device and is not transmitted to us.
5. Email signups and our email service provider
When you submit your email address through a signup form on the Site, it is transmitted to and stored with a third-party email service provider that acts on our behalf. That provider receives your email address together with the record of which form you used and which free guide prompted the signup. Its servers may be located outside Canada, including in the United States.
We hold subscriber email addresses so that we can send email updates about Canadian pet costs and insurance. We have not yet sent any email to subscribers. If and when we begin, every message will identify us and carry an unsubscribe link.
6. How information is shared
We share personal information only with service providers acting on our behalf, for the purposes described in this policy:
- Hosting and security — Cloudflare
- Analytics — Google Analytics 4, Ahrefs Analytics
- Email service provider — see Section 5
We may also disclose personal information where we are required to do so by law.
7. Children's privacy
The Site is not directed at children under the age of majority in their province. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Your rights under PIPEDA
You have the right to:
- Request access to the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Withdraw consent for our continued use of your personal information
- Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention obligations)
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

If you have given us your email address, you may ask to be removed from our email list at any time by emailing hi@petassured.ca. Any email we send in future will also include an unsubscribe link.
9. Data retention
- Contact form submissions: retained for up to 12 months unless earlier deletion is requested
- Server access logs: retained for up to 90 days
- Subscriber email addresses: retained until the subscriber asks to be removed from our email list
- Analytics data: retained per the analytics provider's policy
10. Data security
We use commercially reasonable security measures to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You provide personal information at your own risk.
11. International data transfers
Our hosting provider (Cloudflare), our email service provider, and certain analytics or advertising partners may process data outside Canada, including in the United States and other jurisdictions. By using the Site you consent to such cross-border processing.
12. Third-party links
The Site contains links to third-party websites (insurance providers, advertising partners, etc.). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Review each site's own privacy policy before providing information.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy at any time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last reviewed" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
